Louis G. Castonguay, Ph.D., completed his doctorate in Clinical Psychology at S.U.N.Y. Stony Brook, a clinical internship at U.C. Berkeley, and a Post-doctorate at Stanford University. He is currently a Professor at the Department of Psychology at Penn State University. With more than 180 publications (including eight co-edited books), his scholarly work and research focus on different aspects of the process of change and training, especially within the context of psychotherapy integration of psychotherapy.

TICP Scientific Meeting: Sandor Ferenczi’s work with Elizabeth Severn: The Gateway to Relational Psychoanalysis

Between 1924 and 1933, Sandor Ferenczi analyzed Elizabeth Severn. In 1932, for approximately one year, Ferenczi embarked on a bold psychoanalytic experiment in which he and Severn mutually analyzed one another. Ferenczi chronicled the process in his “Clinical Diary”. In large measure this analysis, a watershed in psychoanalytic history, informed Ferenczi’s final papers, including his famous and controversial “Confusion of Tongues”. These papers explored, amongst other things, the nature of trauma and splitting of the self as revealed in clinical process. The ABC's of Mental Health

The ABCs of Mental Health was developed by the Hincks-Dellcrest Centre in response to parent and teacher requests for mental health information that would help them in their everyday interactions with children and adolescents. This mental health information is divided into relevant, easily understandable and applicable topics that are transferable in school settings or at home. Some of the topics include: the self-harmful child, the angry or aggressive child, the child with eating problems and the child with drug and alcohol problems.
