Richard Kagan joined Parsons Child and Family Center in 1976 and directed its professional development, quality improvement and research programs for 18 years before becoming Director of Psychological Services. He is currently the Clinical Director for Parsons Trauma Study Center. Dr. Kagan has more than 29 years of experience in mental health, substance abuse, and child and family services and has worked as a therapist, consultant, trainer, researcher and program director. Read more at parsonscenter.org The Real Life Heroes Project: Real Life Heroes utilizes an activity-based workbook to help traumatized children build the skills and interpersonal resources needed to re-integrate painful memories and to foster healing after abuse, neglect, family violence, severe illness, death, or loss. This is a phase-oriented curriculum that utilizes creative arts and life story work to engage children and caring adults to rebuild (or build) positive, enduring relationships with committed and caring adults. The curriculum integrates nonverbal and verbal modalities and helps children and caring adults move from a trauma narrative to an identity highlighting mastery and nurturing relationships. read more |
