OPA Addiction 101 Day

Join us for a day for skill building for health care providers working with patients who use substances. The focus will be on addiction pharmacotherapy and psychosocial interventions. The format will be didactic presentations and small group experiential exercise. The medications covered will include buprenorphine/naloxone and anti-craving medications for alcohol. The psychosocial interventions will include evidence based behavioural approaches to substance use disorders.

Learning Objectives:
Upon attending the conference, participants will be able to

• Identify, assess, and manage opiate and alcohol use disorders, both in withdrawal and maintenance phases.
• Identify and determine appropriate psychosocial interventions and describe dialectical behavior therapy for substance use in detail.
• Develop a learning plan to increase proficiency in assessing and managing patients with substance use disorder

The Ontario Psychiatric Association’s group learning activity, OPA Addiction 101 Day (June 16, 2018), has been approved for Section 1 of the Royal College’s Maintenance of Certification program. Accordingly, participants may earn 1 credit per hour of attendance at the accredited sessions, for the maximum of 5 hours.
