Over almost thirty years, Andrew Samuels has evolved a synthesis of Jungian analysis, relational psychoanalysis and humanistic psychotherapy. In addition to his clinical practice, he works internationally as a political consultant. His work on the connections between psychotherapy and politics has achieved international recognition. He was the co-founder of Psychotherapists and Counselors for Social Responsibility. Dr Samuels is Professor of Analytical Psychology at the University of Essex, visiting Professor of Psychoanalytic Studies at London University, and Honorary Professor of Psychology and Therapeutic Studies at Roehampton University. He is a Training Analyst of the Society of Analytical Psychology, London, where he is based. Board member of the International Association for Relational Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy, a former Scientific Associate of the American Academy of Psychoanalysis, and the current recipient of the Hans W. Loewald Award of the International Federation for Psychoanalytic Education. His many books have been translated into nineteen languages.
