Engagement and Enactment: A Clinical Workshop

Dr. Donna Orange
presented by Centre for Healing and Personal Growth

Saint Paul University, 233 Main St., Ottawa, ON

Dr. Donna Orange will join the Centre for Healing and Personal Growth for an evening and daylong exploration on the themes of engagement and enactment. Dr. Orange focuses on the search for common ground among contemporary psychoanalytic and psychotherapeutic perspectives and identifies the clinical concepts of mutual engagement and enactment a being well--placed for a dialogue between theories. Current self psychologists meet relational psychoanalysts in engaging the full participation of both parties in a therapeutic interaction. Contemporary Freudians have brought into relational psychoanalysis a concept of enactment that can serve self psychologists turned intersubjectivists well when understood as a developmental process. We shall
consider these clinical ideas as bridges in our search for common ground and explore clinical vignettes as a means to bring these ideas to life.

Participants may register for the Friday evening, Saturday full day or both. Friday evening will be an intimate gathering where participants will have the opportunity to present case material for discussion with Dr. Orange.
Registration will be limited to 20 participants.

Saturday will be a full day workshop where Dr. Orange will present her theoretical discussion of engagement
and enactment in the morning session, which will be followed by a vibrant discussion of clinical material.
