A note from managing director Joe Adelaars Caversham Booksellers was established in 1989 by Dr. Christine Dunbar (psychiatrist and psychoanalyst born in Caversham, Nz) and Peter Heyworth (1931-2007; professor of English & former Vice Principal of University College). Caversham opening meant Toronto joined New york and London in being home to bookshops specialising in psychology & mental health. My postmusic-degree experience at the U of Toronto Medical Bookstore got me on board as manager. I became a partner in 1994, and in 2007 sole proprietor, when Dr. Dunbar went on to form Caversham Productions with Elisabeth Young-Bruehl. Whether you are in touch by phone or email, or are visiting us in-store or at conferences, you'll be served by a most experienced and helpful group. We miss Eric Evans, who after 22 years as assistant manager has taken his psychotherapy practice to full-time. We've three senior staff, hired between 1999 & 2001: Janet Milligan, who has bravely and handily taken on Eric's accounting role; Vicki Fraser, who artfully co-ordinates our conference schedule and promotional efforts, while in training to be a psychotherapist; and Karl Bustamante, who diligently creates and monitors our website, databases and gadgets, while studying cognitive science and philosophy. Front-of-house are Marijke, Sarah & Neil. Our annual catalogue is produced over ten weeks by Vicki, me & designer Marcus Sampaio which is available on our home page.
