This book is a brief survival guide for women going through separation and/or divorce. It provides suggestions about how one can manage changes in the family and how one must grieve the loss of one’s marriage before going on. It also deals with how the separation and divorce process can affect one’s children and how to care for oneself as you negotiate this difficult path. This book was written to help women from making mistakes as they deal with the separation and divorce process and to support them in managing this difficult and at times stressful route as well as to avoid unnecessary complications as they negotiate this difficult path. About the Author: The author, Dr. Barbara Dydyk, is a clinical psychologist and a family therapist with over thirty years of experience working with children, couples and families. Dr. Dydyk received her doctoral training at Loyola Univeristy of Chicago and a post-doctoral degree from McMaster University and Chedoke Child and Family Centre in Hamilton, Ontario. Dr. Dydyk completed an internship and advanced internship at the Philadelphia Child Guidance Centre. She developed the INTERFACE Service at Thistletown Regional Centre in Toronto, Ontario, an innovative family-focused service for troubled children and families. She also developed and researched a unit that admitted whole families for intensive assessment and treatment. Currently Dr. Dydyk consults to a number of treatment services in the Toronto area and has an active private practice. She is herself divorced and appreciates the struggles and the intense emotions that women experience as they are going through the separation and divorce process.
