In addition to interview/didactic portions where he clearly lays out the philosophy and essential components of MI, viewers are treated to a lengthy live session with a volunteer client. I especially appreciated Dr. Miller's explanation and demonstration of how MI has it's roots in Rogerian, client-centered therapy, and that it has its power in drawing out clients (rather than confronting them), focusing on their inner resources, and facilitating clients' expression and awareness of discrepancies between where they want to go and where they are.
