Richard Taylor, a popular advocate for the rights of people with dementia, encourages those with dementia, their loved ones, and the professionals with whom they interact to recognize and avoid common misguided beliefs about Alzheimer's disease and the abilities of people who have it. From his own experience and his conversations with hundreds of others with early-stage dementia, Dr. Taylor exposes the disempowering behavior of professionals and loved ones and introduces alternative, non-stigmatizing, attitudes and practices.
