The set is a therapeutic tool designed for therapists working with children in settings of individual therapy and group therapy. It is well suited for psychologists, counsellors, psychotherapists, expressive therapists, social workers, etc. Included in the set: • Deck of 50 Illustrated Cards • Deck of 50 Story Cards • Professional guidebook for therapists Deck of Projective Cards: The deck of projective cards contains 50 images of carriages and engines. Each card can be worked with as a single stimulus. In addition, when the child puts one card next to the other – the illustrated carriages connect visually, creating an image of a train. The train and the cards composing it can represent a situation, place, feeling, event, or group from the client´s life. Each illustration is carefully designed to address relevant issues that can be processed in therapy. The colors of the cards, the material, size, and shape of each illustrated carriage, the connection between each carriage and its environment, as well as other objects and features in the cards, were all carefully and professionally controlled in order to address a wide range of themes and emotions. The result of these efforts will hopefully assist the clients raise and work with the issues that they are troubled with. Guide Book for Therapists The professional Guidebook specifies suggestions for working with the cards in settings of individual therapy and group therapy. These suggestions are organized according to relevant themes that child clients might be dealing with, such as: relationships and groups, strengths, difficulties, separation, transitions, issues within a family, coping with illness or death, aggressive behavior and violence, fears, control, development over time, harm or abuse, rejection, body image and more. Application in Individual Therapy In individual therapy, when a child is worried about an upcoming transition (e.g. moving up a grade at school, relocating to a new neighborhood, joining a football team.) the therapist can suggest, “Choose a card depicting a carriage that seems fit for traveling to far stations in the World of Trains”. The child chooses a card and is then asked to describe what led him to choose that specific train carriage. The therapist can assist with questions such as: “Is there a specific object in that carriage that makes a journey to new places easier? In what way?”;” How do the colors of the card make you feel?”;” Which supportive people, animals, or creatures are fit to ride in this carriage?”; ”Where exactly inside this carriage would you like to be, if you were to embark on this journey?”;” Would you prefer to stand, lay down, or sit during the trip?”;”What is missing in this carriage?”;”Which engine is best for leading the carriage safely and happily?”. The child can be invited to copy the card and draw its surroundings, to name the carriage or relate the first chapter of this carriage´s journey. Throughout this process, according to the content raised by the client, the therapeutic work takes place within the layers of reality (i.e. the client´s transition) , the layer of the imaginary (the carriage´s trip) or - in between them. This led me to develop the sets."
