This training is suitable for: Any professional or volunteer who is in a position to influence the support received by a grieving child. This includes front-line workers and volunteers such as medical professionals, educators, clergy, social workers, administrators, residential workers, counsellors, funeral service providers and hospice volunteers.
This certificate program is comprised of 5 individual learning modules that together equips participants with the skills to provide evidence-based support to children, youth, and families grieving the dying, or death of someone they care about.
Module 1 | September 24: Children at the Bedside: Preparing children for the death of someone close to them
Module 2 | October 22: When Death Darkens the Door: Supporting Bereaved Children and Youth
Module 3 | November 28: When Grief Gets More Complicated: Supporting the harder-to-serve populations
Module 4 | January 14, 2020: Using Mindfulness and Compassion to Support Grieving Children and Families
Module 5 | February 11, 2020: Dancing in the Darkness: Creative approaches to working with grieving children and youth
Each Individual Learning Module may be taken separate from the Certificate Program as stand-alone workshops however, all 5 modules must be completed to receive the certificate.
