This training is suitable for: Health professionals and trainees in psychology, social work, psychotherapy, counselling, nursing, psychiatry and other areas of medicine, as well as other allied health professionals.
Description: The facilitators will explain the core principles of Dr. Colin Ross’ Trauma Model Therapy (TMT) and will illustrate treatment interventions, techniques and strategies from TMT with case examples. The problems addressed will include dissociation, self-harm, drug and alcohol use disorders, eating disorders, PTSD and borderline personality disorder. The presenters will summarize up to date research findings on the neurobiology of trauma and will highlight how this information is clinically relevant. Common clinical scenarios that can occur when working with survivors of trauma will be explored and a variety of strategies will be demonstrated through role plays and videos. A wide range of skills will be demonstrated by the facilitators so that attendees can leave feeling confidant in how to apply the tools they have learned. Space will be limited as the workshop will be highly interactive, and skills-focused.
