This is a reminder to encourage colleagues, patients, and friends who are interested in knowing more about psychoanalysis and a psychoanalytic approach to therapy, work, and culture to consider applying to the Fundamental Psychoanalytic Perspectives Program (FPP) offered by the Toronto Psychoanalytic Society.
All our classes are taught by psychoanalysts who are members of our Society, and cover a wide range of topics in 29 weekly Thursday evening seminars. Freud is read in the original, and there are classes on object relations, self psychology, depression, anxiety, the defenses, and attachment theory, to name a few. It is the perfect way to get an introduction to the diversity of theories and concepts of psychoanalysis.
Classes usually consist of an interesting mix of professions and perspectives: clinicians (about 50%), lawyers, artists, business people, and academics, which makes for extremely lively, open, and interesting discussion. The educational requirement for admission to the Program is a Masters degree, or a professional degree. However, please note that the FPP is not a training program. Personal therapy is, of course, an asset. All applicants will be interviewed by a member of the Committee.
The start date for the new class will be Thursday, September 12, 2019. Applications are due by March 1, 2019, and are downloadable from our website www.torontopsychoanalysis.com.
