a little bit open

As of Friday, June 11, 2021 non-essential retail is permitted to operate at 15% capacity. Caversham has determined to admit one customer or delivery person in the shop at any time. To keep up with the volume of mail-order processing, browsing will be limited to the following hours at first: Monday thru Saturday: noon to 6 pm; Sunday noon to 5pm. We're here from 9 am daily, except Sundays, for pickups and phone/email consultation. Next steps are tied to the vaccination rate plus key public health and health care indicators; for now, this is what we're able to offer.

The Legacy of Parentbooks

When Caversham opened on Harbord Street in 1989, Parentbooks had been down the road three years already at 201 Harbord. Now, 35 years on, they've taken the decision to retire. We'd happily co-existed, and our selection of Special Needs, Parenting, Pregnancy, Birth & Postpartum, and Education didn't need developing so much — but without them, and with their blessing, we've taken on nearly all of their distributed publishers, and are welcoming a great many new customers to our shop. Though we've done much to re-arrange and align things, please do tell us if you don't see something, or have recommendations! We're so very humbled by the incredible work that Patti, Bill, Maureen, and Leslie had done to build such an unparalleled and iconic independent bookshop.
