Imagery has risen to become one of the hottest issues in both clinical and experimental cognitive psychology. Specifically, during the last two decades, the use of imagery in health care has gained widespread acceptance, and an ever-growing number of health professionals are eager to add imagery techniques to their repertoire. While this is true, literature on the subject remains for the most part scattered and inaccessible. This book constitutes the editor’s endeavor to bring together a host of imagery techniques from a variety of sources. As such, almost all that is worth knowing about imagery techniques is included in this comprehensive resource. Techniques are presented simply and clearly and all health practitioners will find this book eminently usable in their diagnostic and therapeutic work. The Handbook of Therapeutic Imagery Techniques consists primarily of a description of a multitude of imagery techniques. These approaches have been loosely grouped into four major categories: hypno-behavioral, cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic/humanistic and humanistic/transpersonal. --- from the publisher Contents: Preface HISTORICAL INTRODUCTION Imagination in Disease and Healing Processes: A Historical Perspective, Carol E.
