The purpose of this book is to provide a springboard for discussion and insight about how each individual copes with his or her thoughts. At any age, what we do and how feel about situations, people and the challenges we face is a result of our cognitions and how we interpret them. The boy in the story faces a variety of situations that he perceives as being stressful and dangerous. He is overwrought with the feeling that "he can't do it." As a result, he acts in a variety of ways in an effort to "feel better." He ultimately achieves "success" by using a variety of strategies to manage his thoughts and by making better decisions through problem solving. He has learned to cope.
