This book is an interactive guide designed to take readers from point A of feeling stuck or hopeless, to point B of feeling empowered and motivated. Here are some of the main points covered in this workbook:

• One of the first things we need to do in order to effectively communicate is, switch gears. We need to move from a state of reacting, to a state of responding. Readers will learn the following mindfulness practices to assist in switching gears: Mindful Breathing, Mindful Body Scan, Mindful 3 Part Breath, S.T.O.P., and Mindful Emotions.
• It’s important to explore the softer feelings that underlie the overpowering feelings. I’ve included exercises to help readers find the right tone, and be assertive when communicating their feelings.
• Readers become skilled in troubleshooting during moments of conflict. The following tools are included to help readers stay calm and supportive: Simple Effective Communication, Gingerbread Technique, Family Meetings, Breath of Joy, Heartfulness, and Closing Statements.

My name is Amber McAuley and I’m grateful to connect with you through this parenting book. I’m a dedicated and compassionate woman and I use my personal life experiences to help individuals obtain a greater sense of self-control and resilience. I’ve set a personal and professional goal this year to help 500 families become more resilient and empowered. I began to help adults learn to manage their stress in 2002 and started to work with families in 2008. My passion for this field was born out living through my own turbulent life experiences.
