This book offers a thorough foundation for acupuncturists on the eight extraordinary vessels in Classical Chinese medicine.

The contents cater for the beginner by providing a basic level introduction to the theory and practical application of the eight extraordinary vessel system to acupuncture practice and the healing process. History, the vessels, the pulses, point combinations and safety protocols are all covered, and case studies help demonstrate how this knowledge can be used in treatment.

The book includes many helpful illustrations as well as sections on common problems particularly suited to 8EV treatment such as fertility, depression and emotional pain.

Reviews:

Dr. Johanison's work is that rare combination of clarity for the beginner with ideas that invite more advanced exploration. Her book is a clear, well-structured guide to working with these "mysterious" vessels. I appreciate her view of physical work with the 8 extraordinaries while still maintaining a deep respect for physical, spiritual and emotional issues. I have also benefitted personally from this approach to 8 extras treatment in ways that are still unfolding, years later. Despite a rough period in my life, my resilience has never been better thanks to the 8 extras work with Dolma.
— Samantha L. Francis, D.Ac, L.Ac., Dipl. Acu. (NCCAOM)

This engaging clinical guide is clear, concise, and complete yet also rich, comprehensive, and profound. Dolma captures the esoteric while keeping it user friendly and accessible. This book will serve as a valuable and thorough resource for acupuncturists throughout their career.
— Geeta Dsouza, M.Ac., L.Ac. Founder of Little Dragon Wellness

A contemporary map through ancient terrain once thought familiar that reveals a fresh perspective filled with beauty and possibility. This elegant, accessible work offers everything that the beginner and seasoned practitioner need to revitalize their use of the Extraordinary Vessels and serve their patients at the deepest levels of being.
