“Phil Mollon is a cautious revolutionary, one of those rare honourable thinkers and renaissance figures who rises above the milieu he was trained in to seek answers to difficult questions. Psychologist, psychoanalyst, practitioner of energy therapies, writer and thinker, he illuminates the impact of trauma on the human mind and body while making bridges between groups and subjects who have previously had little contact with each other. He now emerges with a fully fledged toolkit and movement—Psychoanalytic Energy Psychotherapy (a true PEP talk). PEP [is] inspired by thought field therapy, Emotional Freedom Therapy (EFT), Tapas Acupressure Technique (TAT), Seemorg Matrix and psychoanalysis, and integrates energy therapy from libido to Qi.” -- Valerie Sinason, PhD, Psychoanalyst ”Phil Mollon is a trail-blazer who deeply understands the exciting new field of energy psychology, its major modalities and contributions, and its immense potential for removing human suffering even from the most afflicted. In Psychoanalytic Energy Psychotherapy he lavishly offers us a clear and penetrating analysis of the field and its potential. It is a must read for clinicians and others interested in psychological transformation and healing.” -- Asha Clinton, MSW, PhD, Developer, Seemorg Matrix Work ”Phil Mollon writes with the elegant charm of a gracious host who has selected only the most delicious foods for you to enjoy. Quantum physics and energy psychology are light and tasty. After you've read his book, you realize that you've learned substantial new ideas, yet feel like you've just come home from a great party with an armful of gifts from your host.” -- Tapas Fleming, Founder, TAT Psychoanalytic Energy Psychotherapy is the outcome of one psychoanalyst’s encounter with the field known generically as energy psychology, which reveals how the conflicts and traumas active within the psyche are encoded as information within the body’s energy system. It is inspired primarily by the remarkable and far-reaching work of Dr. Roger Callahan in his development of Thought Field Therapy. There were important figures before Dr. Callahan in the lineage–notably George Goodheart, the founder of Applied Kinesiology, who first explored muscle testing as a source of information about the body’s organs and functions, and psychiatrist Dr. John Diamond, who extended this enquiry into the emotional and psychological domains—and many have built substantially on his work since. The author is compelled to the conclusion that purely talk-based forms of psychotherapy—although not without value—are simply not able to engage effectively with the realm in which the patterns of emotional distress are encoded: the area at the interface of the psyche and the soma, the body’s energy field. For this reason, he encourages psychotherapists to consider the implications of TFT and the wider domain of energy psychology. He is convinced that this realm of the body and its energy is entirely congruent with—and indeed an extension of—the psychoanalysis originally developed by Freud. Phil Mollon is a member of the Independent Group within the British Psychoanalytical Society. He is also a clinical psychologist, and trained in psychotherapy at the Tavistock Clinic. His interests have included Heinz Kohut and Self Psychology, trauma and traumatic memory, dissociative states of mind, shame, and disturbances in the experience of self. He is on the Advisory Board of the New York Institute for Psychoanalytic Self Psychology. He works primarily within the British National Health Service, in Hertfordshire.
