A story of bravery, courage and resilience, Burlesque or Bust is a humorous yet poignant personal account of one woman’s struggle to free herself from severe mental illness and claim her sexual identity. Be prepared for an intimate tale of sexual experimentation, loss of innocence, true love, sacrifice and triumph.

About the Author:

Sapphira – real name Priscilla Silcock née Tonkin, is an Australian burlesque entrepreneur, singer/songwriter and teacher who believes in positivity. Following her recovery from a severe mental illness 20 years ago, she founded Sapphira’s Showgirls, an academy that empowers women through self-expression. Sapphira supports several charities with her fundraiser, #BurlesqueAPeel. She is the founder of the Ibiza Burlesque Festival and offers sound healing sessions as a certified Soul Voice ® Practitioner. Sapphira began writing under her original name in Melbourne in 1998, when she worked at The Age CitySearch. She wrote reviews for the Clubbing & Nightlife online pages. She went on to broaden her career in print, becoming a music journalist for local street press Beat Magazine. Her feature stories appeared in Kiss FM magazine and Large Magazine. Sapphira is preparing to release her first album, Mistress, and writing her first poetry book, Soliloquy, illustrated by Sir Charles Billich.
