Yoga has many benefits as an ancient Indian mind-and-body practice, and it’s never too early to start your little one!

I Am Kind: A Gentle Introduction to Compassion and Empathy explores ahimsa, or nonviolence, and shows children how to practice compassion and gratefulness in their daily lives to themselves, to others, and to the world. This practice is focused on the key preschool concept of being polite—knowing when to say thank you and I'm sorry.

About Om Child: This calm and colorful series features kids from all backgrounds enjoying yoga and teaches readers about mindfulness and philosophy, which is often neglected in order to focus on teaching poses.

About the Author:

Lisa Edwards is a former children’s publisher who is now a freelance writer, editor, and Yoga teacher. Lisa trained and taught Ashtanga, Vinyasa, and Yin Yoga at the prestigious Sampoorna Yoga school in Goa, India. Under the guidance of her teacher, Sudhir Rishi—a former Hindu monk—she has since undertaken further training in pranayama, meditation, and Yoga philosophy.

She splits her time between the UK and India, and is committed to bringing the spiritual ideas she has learned to a young audience, to encourage them to discover and celebrate the joy that lies inside every living being, including themselves.

About the Illustrator:

Sandhya Prabhat is an animator and illustrator based in the Bay Area, California, and is from Chennai, India. She holds an MFA degree in Animation and Digital Arts from NYU Tisch School of the Arts Asia, and a Bachelor's Degree in Literature from Stella Maris College. Sandhya has illustrated diverse books like A Saree for Ammi, Today I Am, and I Am Brown.
