Baldwin, Ph.D. Author/Editor of the award-winning Trauma Information Pages web site: http://www.trauma-pages.com/ Dr. Flint's book is basically a guide to the use of Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), the meridian based energy therapy. EFT is an exceptional healing technique which can easily be learned by laypersons and by any healing practitioners. It is simple, effective, and fast. I have known the process to produce truly remarkable results. From: The Emotional Freedom & Healing News Richard Ross, Publisher http://www.emotionalfreedom.com I have found Emotional Freedom very useful in helping clients (and students) be systematic in their application of EFT. My wife and I are teaching an EFT workshop and we are planning to have your book as part of the materials we hand out to participants. I am also continuing to teach a class in Research Methods in the Marriage and Family Therapy Program at Edgewood College and students use your book for research projects using EFT. Larry Mandt, Ph.D. Elkhart Psychological Services Monona, Wisconsin (From First Edition) Garry Flint is an experienced clinician who has integrated a broad spectrum of processes from the emerging discipline of energy medicine. Emotional Freedom is an important bridge into a new paradigm that can treat traumatic stress and a host of psychological problems and chronic illnesses in a relatively brief time. Most importantly, these easy-to-learn techniques are non-invasive and can be taught to empower patients so they can become more responsible for their health and wellness. A must read for the clinician and lay person interested in the power therapies of the new millennium. Lee Pulos, PH.D. ABPB Author of Mental Fit Forever, and The Power of Visualization Flint's book clearly presents a treatment approach ("change technique") that has great promise. We have been using many elements of this approach since 1994. It is simple, safe and easy, and the client can sense near immediate relief of at least some symptoms. Emotional Freedom is detailed enough to teach therapists and simple and safe enough for the average person. Give Feedback Index About the Author About the Author: Dr. Flint was educated at Indiana University and, in 1968, received a doctorate degree in experimental psychology specializing in learning. He ended up in Ukiah, California, where, after working with abused teens for six years, he became a staff psychologist at the county mental health outpatient clinic. He continued to work with abuse children and adults. Here, he began to search for treatment techniques that worked faster than Behavior Modification. He obtained extensive training in hypnosis and Neurolinguistic Programming. Later he was a program manager at a Psychiatric Health Facility where he was able to work with severely disturbed persons. In 1987, he started a private practice. In 1990, he was further trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Before moving to Canada in 1994, he took the diagnostic training for Thought Field TherapyTM (TFT) and later learned the Tapas Acupressure Technique. He is now living in Vernon, British Columbia. The author developed a clinically based theory of brain process and behavior to explain EMDR and, later, extended the theory to all his treatment techniques. The theory or metaphor is accepted easily by patients, explains most of the phenomena observed in TFT, EMDR, and other therapies, accounts for the formation of the entire personality and unusual phenomena, and is extremely useful in therapy. |
