In his book, WHY HONEST PEOPLE SHOPLIFT OR COMMIT OTHER ACTS OF THEFT, Dr. Cupchik describes many of the approaches that he has developed and often employs during the 4-day, personalized, one-on-one Intensive Intervention Programs that he conducts with suitable attendees. Some 31 sample cases are described in the book, providing the reader with a variety of examples of atypical theft behavior.

A 'Must Have' for all retail security employees I found the book so fascinating that I couldn't put it down. I have worked in retail security for years, and Dr. Cupchik's research is right on the money! You can't go wrong with this is essential to all retail security employees.
Dr. Cupchik...offers a fascinating study of the atypical client-- that is, someone who displays bizarre, nonsensical behavior in committing theft or fraud. His well written text assist both the professional and lay person in learning how to....identify and understand atypical theft behavior...., determine which judicial options are more or less likely to be effective with these cases.
. The readability of this book handles well what could be seen as a very academic issues. The use of case studies (appropriately disguised) and practical hints should make this a useful addition to the reference libraries of clinicians, lawyers, and others.
: A book you will feel is written for you, and about you. Will Cupchik's book is turning my life around. An absolute MUST READ for anybody with a shoplifting problem habit, addiction. If this is you, or anyone you know, please, please buy this book (don't steal it :-)). I wish I had read it years ago. Upon purchasing I found it harder to put down than any book I have ever read. I felt it was written about me, and for me. I have been arrested three times for shoplifting and I can proudly say, I will not offend again and truly believe it in my heart.
