Mary Regner had many mixed feelings when her son unexpectedly announced his desire to become a US Marine. Full of pride, but fully aware of the risks and rewards, Mary and her husband, also a Marine, knew this was their son's choice to make. And they knew their job was to support his journey. In Semper Parents, Mary shares her wisdom as a seasoned Marine parent supporting their son through two decades of service, three combat tours, multiple deployments, and many moves. She interweaves her personal story with practical guidance for new Marine parents beginning the journey with their own Marine. Topics include: finding purpose in the Marine Corps--for your Marine and you; how to join your Marine on their journey; understanding the rewards and risks of service; strategies to cope with concern and worry; and important ceremonies and celebrations.

About the Author:

As a Marine Corps mom and spouse, Mary Regner understands the questions and concerns that arise for a parent when their child makes the decision to join the Marines. Mary is a passionate advocate for military families. She's served on the boards of the National Military Family Association and Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society, and as an ambassador for The White House Joining Forces Initiative and the Military Spouse Employment Partnership. Mary lives with her husband Major-General Mike Regner, USMC, retired, in South Carolina, where she serves on the board of the Patriots Point Foundation.
