Transitioning from independent living to a long-term care facility can be very difficult. More than two in five Canadian older adults living in LTC are diagnosed with or have symptoms of depression (CIHI, 2010). The number of older adults living in long-term care (LTC) will quadruple in Canada by 2031. This pamphlet talks about how to make life easier for you and your family member in long-term care. This brochure is adapted from the Canadian Coalition for Seniors’ Mental Health (CCSMH) National Guidelines for Seniors’ Mental Health: The Assessment and Treatment of Mental Health Issues in Long-Term Care Homes (Focus on Mood and Behaviour Issues). Plain language and senior-friendly revision (Grade 6 reading level to comply with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act). Approximately 1200 words, 8.5 X 3.5 booklet, 12 pages. This bundle consists of 25 copies of the brochure. |
